SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Communities must themselves be sustainable. More and more of the world’s population lives in urban centers, and Jakarta (capital city of Indonesia) and Depok (one of the major Jakarta’s satellite city) is the home of our the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia. Cities can be places of great innovation and opportunity, but they can also be home to intense poverty and inequality. The interaction between universities and their communities, urban and rural, needs to be a positive one that can last for generations.

The Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia provide public access to libraries including books and publications, for example to the open access journal that is proudly published by Faculty, the Journal of Dentistry Indonesia https://scholarhub.ui.ac.id/jdi/.

Moreover, the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia also promotes and allow telecommuting or remote working for employees as a matter of policy and standard practice to reduce commuting. In addition the affordable housing for students are available for students who are working in the Tangerang city, Serpong and other areas for their clinical training stage.

Furthermore, the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Indonesia prioritize pedestrian access on campus.
